Sheridan Portfolio Submission

With only getting unpaid internship offered I decided to to go back to school. I was fortunate that Sheridan was offering a bridging program to those that had already finished a 3 year animation program.

here is the two characters I had to develop by my application and portfolio submission.

and here is the animation submission for the same portfolio.

Merry Go Round Model

About a month into my stay as a intern working on the Demo Reel project one of my supervisors ask me to help him remodel two items the company were using in a Toyota Car Commercial.

The first was very simple, two polls with three levels of dangling wires connecting them together. The wires would then have small triangle flags connected to them. the flags and to a lesser extent the wires had to be slightly animated to look like they were moving in the breeze.

The Second model, and the one that took much of my time on, was a large merry-go-roundoriginally model led by another intern in the studio. The intern who was first assigned to it was still in school and still learning to uses 3d computer software. And although she did a wonderful job on many of the smaller detailson the model did not properly manage the geometry.

I had to go in and condense the geometry, re-cut most of the surfaces sothey had four sides, rescaled and moved allot of stuff so it didn't look wonkyor clipped through itself. I could go on but I don't want to sound like I tookall the credit for this model. As per the flags I also had to animate the horsesas they went around the merry-go-round.

Here is a 3/4 shot of the model un-texture.

I hope to get a copy of the final project so and when I do I will defiantlyupload a copy into this post.

Rooster Teeth Animated Adventured in HD

One of my side projects over the years was to redo a popular youtube animation for a popular webpodcast called Rooster Teeth Animated Adventures - New Orleans.

I used the character designs from the websites old weekly comic strips and draw the two main characters in Flash. I also painted a bunch of colorful backdrops and layouts for the animation to comply with the character models.

Here are a few pics from my design pack of this project

Here are some walk cycles for my two flash characters for my ongoing Rooster Teeth Animation project.

2012 Demo Reel

Before, during and after I kept up the search to find paid employment as an animator in and around Toronto.

Here is my 2012 animation Demo Reel I sent out to studios.

trailer Disaster Desks

A few months later the Trailer and then the Show aired with my hammer swing animation. I was really surprised and happy but not as happy as my mom to see my work on tv.

Here is the trailer. You can see my animated intro at 0:26 seconds

Disater Decks Animation

A month into my internship my boss asked me to help him development a pitchfor the opening scene of a Home Construction show called Disaster Decks.

I was asked to start off by taking a premade Disaster Decks logo and subdivideit into small fragmented segments. I would then be able to make severalrendered frames of the logo being destroyed by a large hammer. To make arealistic hammer hit and destruction of the logo I animated the hammer swingand hit and added another layer of geometry under the original model adding awall of small brick. The idea was that there would be more substance to thelogo upon its destruction so it will look like it was made from a solidconstructed object.

After handing off the frames to my boss so he could finish thecomposition and texturing for the pitch he ask me to continue to animate thescene.

So for a few more days I worked on how we wanted the logo to be hitand fall apart. I was trying to get the timing and spread right to of how wewanted it to me destroyed. I passed it along to one of my supervisors who interused my animations as reference as he used geometry software in 3D Max to makethe rubble fall more realistically.

He handed it back to me a few times to fix some mesh clipping errorsand simulate some more debris flying past the screen.

Finally he got me to animate two separate files depicting objects envelopingthe camera for the purpose of a camera transition into another scene. the firstone was that of a large piece of tumbling debris and the second was that of thehammer swinging back into the scene and passing the camera.

Zink Demo Reel Scenes

And here is a work in progress comp of the scene from the project.

here are two small character animation I made for inside the scene that didn't get much screen time bug worked out really well.

Zink Character Development

For the Demo Reel Project I had to Develope, Model and Fig several characters to populate the projects scenes.

heres are some snapshot one of the characters development process.

Internship at Zink

Through the months of May to September I interned at my neighbors Graphic Design Company. I primarily work on a Demo Reel To showcase the companies creative and design abilities But also worked on a stream of other projects were I help build models and animated scenes.

the Company in question is called Zink inc.

Scene from In2Communications Commercial.

Sadly on the brink of the projects completion the client lost interest in doing the commercial and since I we never signed a contract I was never payed for my work.

Here is the first animated segment of the commercial, I was never contracted now intended to do the audio so there is no sound in this video.

In2Communication Design Pack

Here is some of the design pack for the In2Communication Project.

In2Communications Like-A-Reel

In the summer of 2011 I was appropriated to do a commercial for a businesses company called In2Communications.

Having shortly graduated and learned from hard nosed industry types I when about going through the stages of development getting feed back from my client as I went along.

Here is a like-a-reel I did before before moving onto animating and FX builds.

Flash 2011 Demo Reel

When I started to look for work after graduating I got requests to see my 2D work. Sady at that port I had either lost or thrown out my much of my earlier traditional work and only had my some Flash Cartoons.

Here is a quick Flash Reel I put together for an interview I had back in the day.

2011 Graduating Demo Reels
